JavaScript Tutorial For Beginners #30 - Constructor Functions

06:49
Hey ninjas, I think it's about time we started using constructor functions to create our objects! So in this JavaScript tutorial for beginners I'll introduce it to you! The constructor function is useful if you are creating many objects of the same 'type' - e.g. many different Car objects. It promotes DRY code (don't repeat yourself) and saves a lot of time when creating many objects! Any questions, fire away :) SUBSCRIBE TO CHANNEL - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW5YeuERMmlnqo4oq8vwUpg?sub_confirmation=1 ========== JavaScript for Beginners Playlist ========== https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cUxeGkcC9i9Ae2D9Ee1RvylH38dKuET ========== CSS for Beginners Playlist ========== https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cUxeGkcC9gQeDH6xYhmO-db2mhoTSrT ========== HTML for Beginners Playlist ========== https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cUxeGkcC9ibZ2TSBaGGNrgh4ZgYE6Cc ========== The Net Ninja ============ For more front-end development tutorials & to black-belt your coding skills, head over to - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW5YeuERMmlnqo4oq8vwUpg or http://thenetninja.co.uk ========== Social Links ========== Twitter - @TheNetNinja - https://twitter.com/thenetninjauk

JavaScript Ninja

00:17
This mini-game is written in JavaScript using the Processing.js visualization library and renders on the HTML5 Canvas element. Build up your chi-force by thowing your arms into some crazy ninja spins. But don't throw them too quickly, or you will loose your chi! When you have built up enough chi-force for a big hit, fling those arms towards the punch-bags to unleash your foo upon the dojo. Be careful not to hit yourself in the head. Is your foo strong enough to beat the clock?

User-centric development in the early days of jQuery.

24:55
John Resig is a developer at Khan Academy and the creator of the jQuery JavaScript library. He’s also the author of the books Pro JavaScript Techniques and Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja. In the first couple years of jQuery's development it was just one of many JavaScript libraries. The attention that was paid to the potential users of jQuery, attempting to empathize with how they they were developing applications, allowed jQuery to better connect with a greater number of developers. From the stage of jQuerySF 2015, John Resig will explore the ways in which this process took place and what the ramifications were of having a user-centric model for open source development.

Best of Fluent 2012: Maintainable JavaScript

47:05
Video of Nicholas Zakas from his Fluent Conference 2012 Presentation Maintainable JavaScript tackles the difficult problem of writing code as part of a large team. When you're writing code that only you will change, there aren't any issues. As soon as you're writing code that someone else is going to also be changing, you need to think harder about the decisions you make. Will another developer be able to understand what you did? Did you organize your code in such a way that it's easy to adapt and extend? Long after you're gone, will others be able to continue using the same code, or will it need to be rewritten because no one understands it? This session shows the best practices used by teams to ensure their JavaScript is as maintainable as possible. NOTE: To view an HD version go to: http://youtu.be/nZihjH6_Qns About Nicholas Zakas Nicholas C. Best of Fluent 2012: Eight Simple Rules for Running Your JavaScript on My Page

40:39
Video of Kent Brewster and his talk from Fluent Conference 2012. Third-party JavaScript widgets add functionality and enhance user experience to Web sites, with a very low perceived barrier to entry. Appearances are deceiving, however. Since JavaScript runs with full access to the document, it must be tightly controlled to prevent it from defacing its surrounding page, stealing the reader's secrets, or otherwise interacting in an unpredictable fashion with its surroundings, which may include other third-party scripts or browser plug-ins. To be covered in this talk: including third-party scripts passing configuration variables from the surrounding page to the included script creating and inserting structural elements (HTML), styling (CSS), and behaviors (JavaScript) avoiding interference with existing (and future) page elements requesting and rendering data from external APIs detecting and avoiding interference from other third-party scripts or outside manipulation ... all without increasing perceived load time, stealing event listeners, or creating visible global variables. About Kent Brewster You may already be running some of Kent Brewster's difficult-to-detect JavaScript, which powers portions of Yahoo's Pipes badges, Netflix's widgets, the Identi.ca badge, and Lexity's store instrumentation. http://kentbrewster.com/
